Poland has decided in principle to build its first nuclear reactor by 2021 in order to ensure security of supply and to meet its greenhouse gas emissions targets. The Polish Government approved the nuclear proposal on 4 January 2005 as part of a draft policy addressing the country’s energy needs up to 2025. However they are still a long way from ordering a unit as the country has no experience in the field and it wants to have a public debate over several years to ensure acceptance of the proposal. |
